What is Rock Steady Boxing?

Rock Steady Boxing is a specialized exercise system designed specifically for people with Parkinson’s disease.

It is not a fighting program—it is a medically-informed fitness approach built on boxing movements adapted for safety, accessibility, and neurological benefit.

Classes are designed to:

  • Improve balance and postural stability

  • Increase coordination and motor control

  • Strengthen reaction time and agility

  • Support cognitive-motor connection

  • Build community and reduce isolation

Every class is designed to go at your own pace and be adaptable for every level of Parkinson's.

Why Rock Steady Boxing Works?

Rock Steady Boxing is effective because it targets the key movement challenges associated with Parkinson’s:

  • Amplitude training → counters small, shuffling movements

  • Rhythm & timing drills → improves motor planning

  • Dual-task training → strengthens brain-body connection

  • Fast reaction work → improves responsiveness and coordination

This combination helps reinforce neuroplasticity and functional movement patterns used in daily life.

Coaching Expertise

Our Rock Steady Boxing program is led by experienced coaches trained in adaptive fitness and Parkinson’s-specific movement programming. Coach Dean Moskowitz is the head coach of all our programs and is fully certified with Rock Steady Boxing.

Coach Dean has done martial arts for 20 years, used to be a fighter himself and has worked with over 500 people with Parkinson's Disease in the last decade.

Our coaching approach focuses on:

  • Individualized modifications for all ability levels

  • Safe progression-based training

  • Movement quality over intensity

  • Motivation, accountability, and consistency

  • Long-term functional improvement

We understand Parkinson’s is unique to every individual, and every session is adapted accordingly.

Fighting Parkinson's doesn't have to be done alone, here we are a team. What you will notice is that this team quickly becomes a family.

WHY DOCTORS, NEUROLOGISTS & THERAPISTS RECOMMEND ROCK STEADY BOXING:

Rock Steady Boxing is widely recognized by movement disorder specialists, neurologists, and physical therapists as a valuable complementary exercise program for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease.

Because Parkinson’s is a movement disorder that affects balance, coordination, and motor control, structured exercise is considered a critical part of long-term symptom management.

Our program is frequently recommended or referred by healthcare professionals because it provides:

  • Safe, supervised, non-contact exercise

  • Consistent structured movement training

  • Balance and gait improvement work

  • Cognitive-motor integration exercises

  • A motivating group-based environment that improves adherence to exercise

Unlike general fitness programs, Rock Steady Boxing is specifically designed around Parkinson’s-related movement challenges.
